I have loved to bake ever since I was a little girl, learning to make cookies and pies from my mother and grandmother, and practicing on my own after school. In college I got a job in a bakery, and then continued in several bakeries after graduation, including Whole Foods. I began creating wedding cakes for clients throughout Boulder, Colorado and Washington State. My love of baking eventually led me to apprentice under a French pastry chef at The Essential Baking Company in Seattle, Washington. Taking over the pastry division of the patisserie for two years allowed me to learn all kinds of fun and interesting techniques for creating the most delicious treats!
In my late twenties, my life had the great fortune to be invited to be a chef for the spiritual teacher and artist, His Divine Presence, Adi Da Samraj. Because he ate an all raw diet, I learned how to make raw meals, as well as raw treats and delights for special occasions for him and his family. At one point, Adi Da named one of the raw treats I made for him "Nessie Bars", and thus the name Nessie!
